Due to an underpayment by 4Kids not paying the Japanese Yuugiou companys (NAS [Nihon Ad Systems] and TV Tokyo, 4Kids were in a lawsuit against the Japanese company. Japan gave 4Kids 1 month to pay them $4million dollars (I believe) however Japan never received the payment which would no longer let 4Kids own the license rights to dub Yuugiou in English by 4Kids. In the end 4Kids won the lawsuit and currently own the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh as of right now.

Note: 4Kids didn't pay NAS or TV Tokyo due to bankruptcy back in March 2011 or somethin..

Or it could be a marketting level.

For instance the Simpson studio are debating wether or wether not, they should continue the seasons this year because of it being too expensive and has become a world wide cartoon in every language. Obviously they don't want to stop making it but the sponsors aren't giving them enough slacks, and they are losing in profits or aren't making that much as they used to.

In that case JAP studio vs 4Kids. JAP has something they need to distribute. 4Kids is a well known cartoon program which is universal on all north America wether someone has cable or not and the more viewers a show gets the more that creator is benefiting from that partner. But with America going haywire with over 2 billion unemployment most companies are trying to cheat the system to make aggressive money.

4Kids had already been bankruped in March when they declared it, so they vow not to pay any more or make any huge expense. Jap currently have a new Yugioh show they need to distribute, so maybe now they cut a deal with them of something "accepts and pay later." Their prior method is distribute, and even though 4Kids now owns yugioh Jap is basically using them for marketing benefit.

Know that Yugioh is one of the most top TCG card sold and it's getting popular every year. It'll be ashamed if the show only resides in Jap because with that it will lose its popularity as years passed by and died in North America and other regions. Which explains why instead of Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal in the new TCG they only have Yu-Gi-Oh! as a trademark because the show had never set an agreement to be aired in North America, thus they were only selling the TCG.

I mentioned it here: http://konamiwc.ogameplayer.com/t2785p15-yu-gi-oh-xyz-summons-ruling (view the last comment)

For instance in 5D's there's these packs that are named after the characters which contains "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's pack Yusei" etc. Now they have a Yuma Exclusive pack as well. How would they apply that pack when it's released in the US. No one would know who Yuma is.

Not every one searched on the internet for yugioh shows and almost half of all yugioh fanatics only watches the dubbed.

They may have dodge not including Zexal into the new TCG, but they couldn't keep it for long, thus something had to be done. It may be a battle with 4kids that they won because they were sue of something, but the reality is JAP has control of this thing the minute they accept. At any time when the show starts being excited you could hear, another lawsuit again.
